Becoming A Private District:

As we reported for the past couple of weeks, the hearing to make the NCCSD a private district continues. Just 15 minutes ago we spoke with Superintendent James Derrylson and he told us about how this new idea could take up to one year to become a reality. This is his statement to News By Jessy crews. "Now that we are in 1/3 of the 25 hearings needed to be completed to start the official stages of becoming a private district, we will be entering phase 2 of our 3 phase hearing of hearing #1. We will be holding  consecutive discussions on how this will improve the running of our district."

The Niagara County Town Hall believes this is an awful idea. They said that they could not speak with us further on the issue. They did say they would get back to us on that.

Residents agree yet disagree with the changes attempted to be made.

"We hope to conclude phase 1 of the proposal hearing with the court on our side. Many of us here at the Niagara County Central School District are very excited to see how things turn out and if the district will be becoming a private district." said Board of Education President Jack Connors.

Many of the disagreeing families say that it would hurt the district in a multitude of ways. We spoke to Neighborhood watch leader Sharron DeMone told us this:

"This will significantly change and alter the progress the former Superintendents have done. The district superintendent really should rethink the idea. It will increase taxes for ALL residents who currently reside in the Town of Niagara , Town of Wheatfield and the Town of Lewiston."
